Junior MasterChef

Food is always the focal point of everyone’s lives, therefore the Junior MasterChef challenge was to encourage students to do something that they would not normally do in school, and that is cooking. To make the event child-friendly the idea of a fireless foodie event was incorporated. In this way students were not exposed to any danger along with the rules of no sharp utensils etc.

Students prepped the ingredients for cutting/slicing; however, some chose to do the prepping at the venue using plastic utensils. The students prepped, assembled and created some amazing and unusual dishes. They were judged using a score sheet which had plating/creativity presentation as the criteria.

The 8 finalists (one from each class) moved on to round 2 where they had to read a simple recipe, look at the pictures and follow the directions to create their own. The mini chef who followed all directions and completed the challenge first, was the winner.

This challenge encourages life skills and allows students to display their creativity while having fun.
